Final Fantasy XI (FFXI) Ballista

Just a Few Clarifications

Yes, clarifications.

So I was trying to subscribe to another blog yesterday but couldn’t find a subscription link or button.  That’s when it hit me.  Where the hell did my subscription link go?  Well, shit, I must have accidentally removed it at one point, but it’s back now (at the bottom of the right side menu).  I was wondering why my subscriber count stopped increasing.  Anyway, I’m glad that I finally got this out of the way.

Strategy 005: Battle Skill vs. Tech Skill (Hyper)

Sally, calm yo ass down.  Although this post may be intimidating to read due to its traumatic length, I hope that you, the reader, will do your job and—yes—read this post entirely and carefully.  If you play Ballista, I guarantee that it will be worth your time.  If you don’t play Ballista, read it anyway.  For the shits and giggles.  Mostly the shits.

♣♦♣♦♣♦♣♦♣♦♣♦♣♦♣♦

In the past week, I’ve been busy with mundane routines of the notorious phenomenon commonly known as ‘IRL’, but during my downtime from FFXI, I’ve been brainstorming a few notable thoughts and ideas in regards to—you’ve guessed it—Ballista.  Between the few NA players in my LS, two novel terms have been coined in order to describe and categorize Ballista aptitude more effectively: ‘battle skill’ and ‘technical skill’.

Funniest Shit in the World

Have you ever seen a video with a Ballista commentator?  Well, you’re in luck because here are two of my favorites that I found a while back.  As you can see, these guys are obviously professional Ballista players.

The Problem: Revisited

—Written by Teishi

When we arrived on Lakshmi, it felt like diorama was won through careful planning and meticulous teamwork.  I still believe it did and it does, but what we faced when we got here..

Revitalizers… can you remember when getting one in an OM was amazing?  Can you remember even getting one at all in serious diorama?  And now they seem to be a necessary component of any winner’s repertoire.

It May Be Gay, but I Like Twilight

I remember when I first laid eyes on the fashionable Twilight Helm, I flipped out and immediately became obsessed with its stunning good looks.  Stats come after style.  Of course, I tried my best (not really) to complete the prerequisite bosses in order to fight Shinryu, but due to my lack of experience and knowledge of the new Abyssea world, as well as the incompetence and unreliability of random Jueno shouts, I admit that I didn’t get very far—if at all.

Dr. Dre: Player Profile: Jsprodjgoaehqwdslfk1337etc

—Written by Drekien

While trying to think of the next person to write about, I came to the realization that many of us are quite similar. With that in mind, these questions are kind of hard to come up with now… but of course being the boss that I am I have it all figured out. Well what I mean by similar is that many of us have the same jobs leveled, as for instance my next person in the player profile. Like me, he has pretty much the same ballista jobs leveled and used: SAM, WAR, DRG, RNG… just to name a few. He’s also quite the stealthy player. What do I mean by that?…well if you haven’t figured it out already, he’s able to keep this game a secret from his own family! Please welcome the man whose name is impossible to pronounce, Jspromlx~

Dr. Dre: Player Profile: Masta P

—Written by Drekien

Dammit V, I’d wish you’d stop putting that dumb “Dr. Dre” shit in front of every post I write. Oh well, anyway the next person I’d like to introduce is a good, NO, great ballista player I’ve had the pleasure of knowing longer than probably any of you scrubs. A Lakshmi native, he’s been in the ballista game for quite a while, but you might not have seen him as he is now. This guy gives a good name for all monks and dark knights everywhere…in ballista, and he’s truly a powerhouse in those respects. People may not know of him, but once you play against him his avatar will leave a lasting impression on your memory. An all around good-guy, I’m glad to present Pikkiwoki in this next player profile.

Dr. Dre: Player Profile: Boss

—Written by Drekien

I’m so mufuckin pretty. No really V, while you’re reading this and then continue to post it, I will explain to you what I mean exactly. Hope you and everyone else enjoys.

So since we’ve begun to acquire more and more members, I’ve been thinking of ideas to make V’s blog less boring :D. I’ve decided to make player profiles of all our Linkshell members. Interesting? Cool? Innovative? Yea I think all those are appropriate. But in any case I must get to the point. Why am I doing this? Well, I guess because of what I said like 5 sentences ago… but really because I don’t think anyone has done this for ballista players, ever. So what will it consist of? I just have some intriguing questions for our lucky members to answer regarding ballista as a whole.

The Revival

I know.  It’s been a long time since I’ve done anything to my blog, but don’t worry: I have an arsenal of reasonable excuses.  Really, though, they are reasonable.  For starters, the typical excuse is that I’ve been busy with school, work, relationships, as well as the other necessary chores to sustain my life (like the daily routine of taking sh—).  The other excuse is that I’ve been busy playing Ballista like a madman—that’s right, folks—Diorama games, one after another.  Yes, my arsenal of excuses only consists of two.

Dr. Dre: Cool Title Name Here

—Written by Drekien

It’s been a while since I’ve done a write-up. Yea I’ve been busy… Sure I’ve had better things to than write pointless blog entries. Well honestly I’ve been reading V’s so much that it has kinda dawned upon me that I once said that I wanted to share something with the world in the name of Ballista. What’s there to say? We have a lot of new members and NA transfers coming in. That’s cool. 60 cap is going pretty strong here on Lakshmi. That’s nice. I’m poor, and everyone loves using rabbit pies. FUCK THAT SHIT…
